The ALL-New Honda Insight: This Year’s Detroit International Auto Show Preview

The all-new Honda Insight Prototype made its world debut January 15th, 2018 at this year’s annual North American International Auto Show. Set to make its way to showroom across the nation, later this year, the Honda Insight gives consumer a more upscale and refined look to the planned 2019 model year.

What can you expect?

  •    The Honda Insight is positioned as a premium compact vehicle above the Civic in the Honda passenger line up.
  •     A sleeker sedan design, roomy 5-passenger cabin, incomparable fuel efficiency coupled with refined driving performance.
  •      No more hatch back. The Honda Insight Prototype boasts a sleek design with a low and wide stance, highlighted by Honda’s signature “flying wing” grille and bold fascia, while offering a low-profile LED headlights and taillights and a sweeping, long coup-like roofline.

      What’s Under the Hood?

  •         Consumers can expect class leading power PLUS an anticipated EPA fuel economy rating of 50+ MPG.
  •         A highly efficient 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle engine, a powerful electric propulsion motor and lithium-ion battery pack.

What technology can you expect?

  •          A suite of standard advanced safety and driver-assistance technologies including: Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™), Lane Departure Warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow and new Traffic Sign Recognition.
  •      The Honda Insight will also come standard with Honda LaneWatch on EX and above models and Honda Sensing.
  •       An 8-inch Display Audio capacitive touchscreen and a 7-inch digital LCD driver’s meter.
  •     Available Apple Car Play and Android Auto, Wi-Fi enabled over-the-air system updates

As Honda continues to move toward its 2017 announced Honda Electrification initiative with the intent to make two-thirds of its global vehicle sales being electrified vehicles by 2030, the third-generation Insight is the perfect marriage of hybrid/electric initiatives and car buyers who want great fuel economy but not the less stylish, pocket-sized protector styling seeming design that usually comes with it.
